"TRUE"
J & A's Keeper of the Stars of Acton
FALL 2012 BREEDING UPDATE: True has been bred with J&A's High Flyin' Girl of Acton (Piper). Pups are anticipated in February 2013. This breeding brings the anticipation of outstanding bird hunting companions of very nice conformation and temperament. These pups will also carry the potential to be competetive field trial dogs for the serious trialer. Sire and dam, grand-sire and grand-dam, and great grand dam of anticipated litter reside with us. True is OFA Good and Piper is OFA Fair. See pups pedigree at: True & Piper Puppy Pedigree
They are all special... every Brittany in our life! True is especially so as he is from our very first litter of puppies from a Brittany that we actually bred ourselves, from our beautiful and lovely "Treasure". In a call name for our new puppy, we tried to specifically keep a relevant flow of names. We are Christians, and the word "True" reflects the 'true north' of our lives, and of course is found in his mother's name, as "J & A's Dreams Come True of Acton". "Keeper of the Stars", because indeed, True was intended to be a 'keeper'; "Stars" also because of his grandmother's name our incredible foundation Brittany, "Birch Springs Wish Upon a Star".
True, shown briefly earned 4 points at his first 4 shows. He has won Best Opposite Sex (3 times), Best of Winners (2 times), and Winners Dog, (4 times). True has earned his first 4 points towards an AKC bench title. It was John's desire to keep him out of the ring until he was older.
John has had True in the field since June 2010 in a structured, close working, gundog training program. In the fall of 201 we were very pleased that at 11 months old and in just one weekend True completed his first two sets of 4 qualifying scores towards his AKC Junior Hunter title and was proudly handled by John at the New England Brittany Club Hunt Tests. In the spring of 2011 True finished this title by earning his final two sets of qualifying scores, also in one weekend, at the Central New England Brittany Club Hunt Tests. True is a natural backer and retriever and John has already handled True to 3 qualifying legs towards finishing as a Senior Hunter. His overall average qualifing hunt test score is 9.
At 3 years of age, True's field manners and abilities are impeccable. John and other friends and family have all shot many birds over True which he has. Perhaps one of our greatest thrills though came when our oldest grandaughter shot her very first pheasants over True, passing the torch of love of Brittany as a close working gundog to our next generation.
True's name takes on even greater significance as time goes on. He is proving to be true to our goals as a versatile, close working gun dog. His extremely strong natural instincts, pointing ability, prey drive, retrieving skills, and love of water are what we look for here. They are traced back to the consistency of traits passed on through our true foundation and well loved Brittany: Birch Springs Wish Upon A Star, his maternal grandmother.
True weighs 40 lbs and 'measures in' exactly at 20". He has outstanding style and intensity including strong, natural instincts regarding honoring or the backing of another dog on point. True really is quite impressive and we're not the only ones to think so! He more than demonstrates what we expect to see in our Brittanys in preserving the true natural hunting instincts of a close working gundog. It's exciting as hobby breeders to see our 2nd and 3rd generation Brittanys such as True provide such awesome evidence that our purpose driven and selective breeding goals are being met especially in consistency.
In the summer of 2012 True won the Club Championship Field Trial at the Northern New England Brittany Club handled by John. In the spring of 2012 True won his first adult field trial placement at the Central Maine Brittany Club with a 4th place handled by John with signifcant number of starters.
True has just about reached maturity and almost ready to be brought back into the show ring to finish his AKC bench championship. True will work beyond his AKC Senior Hunt Title towards a Master Hunter. All of this takes time but True is an awesome boy, very serious in the field but a very funny and sweet Brittany boy. Ann adores her 'True puppy'.

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
